Using common household items like baking soda and vinegar, you can replace some of the chemical cleaners that you may use in the bathroom or kitchen. This type of do it yourself cleaner is more environmentally friendly and cheaper to use than many store bought cleaners.

To clean a sink with no harsh chemicals, first dampen the sink with water and sprinkle with baking soda. Using a cloth wet down with a mixture of vinegar and water (you can use full strength, but diluting with water down to whatever level you find effective can save money), scour the sinkĀ  as you would with any cleanser such as comet or ajax, adding more baking soda or more vinegar solution as needed. Rinse everything down when you’re done. This method works great on the fixtures, as well.

Another option for those wanting more natural cleaning products may be on store shelves. Large manufacturing companies have starting producing “green” or “natural” alternatives to traditional detergents, soaps and other commonly used household products.
